It addresses the different types of enamel lesions based on their topography and etiology—ranging from initial carious demineralizations to developmental defects such as hypoplasia, fluorosis, and hypomineralization—highlighting how these variations influence clinical decision-making. A key concept discussed is the optical nature of white spot lesions. Early enamel demineralization creates subsurface porosities without surface cavitation, leading to light scattering and the characteristic opaque appearance. These lesions are not due to pigmentation but rather to changes in light diffraction within the enamel structure. The webinar also covers advanced diagnostic approaches, including the benefits of transillumination to better assess lesion depth and extension, improving accuracy in treatment indication.
